AS AN IPA (INVESTMENT PROMOTIONAL AGENCY)

Global innovation networks and foreign investment initiative for Puerto Rico.

EduTek’s tender is focused on two key endeavors, job creation and the possibility to insert Puerto Rico in the largest manufacturing sector in the world, the global automotive value chain and its related Tiers supplier industry, making emphasis on exports of mechanical & electronic automotive components and the eventual installation of motor vehicles assembly facilities.

Our project harmonizes with PRIDCO’s - Puerto Rico Science, Technology, and Research Trust initiative and corporate mission statement “to fuel economic growth and innovation by directly supporting and advancing Puerto Rico’s growing research and development sector and the innovations that are created”.

The automotive industry is a major investor in innovation, accounting for nearly 17 percent of all global manufacturing business expenditure on research and development (R&D). In addition, the R&D intensity of the industry is around three times higher than for manufacturing as a whole and approximately nine times higher than for many developed and emerging economies.

KPMG, Ernst Young, Deloitte & Touche Tohmatsu and Price Waterhouse Coopers among other prestigious multinational professional services accountancy firms, all agree in their respective Automotive Executive Surveys 2012 & 2013 appraising the current and future prospects of the worldwide automotive industry.

Contrary to other periods, this is the perfect timing to embark in this type of endeavor because of the external technological pressures associated with geopolitical factors (oil) and environmental (CO2 + GHG contaminants) issues; also the changing nature of global urban mobility and ubiquitous connectivity preferences among consumers – telematics.
